The input of accounting data to the income tax return forms is managed via tax codes. These tax codes work in the same manner as out VAT codes.
- Each tax code is linked to a box in the tax return form they belong to.
- Accounts from the chart of accounts are linked to specific tax codes allowing us to place the balance of the account in a specific box of the income tax return.
- Our tax codes are also mapped to the tax authorities API codes enabling correct submission to the authorities.
Tax code Mapping
- Briox offers a default tax code mapping to the standard COAs.
- The Briox default tax code mapping can be edited in the Income tax return generator in the Tax code mapping tab. Users can edit what accounts are linked to a specific tax code allowing them to customise our standard mapping.
- Tax codes can can also be linked directly to accounts in the chart of accounts. See below.
Editing tax code data
Data input via tax codes can be edited by the end user. In the user interface of the tax return generator, the user can edit the values input by the tax codes manually, but only on the tax accounting side.
The box containing manually edited data is highlighted in a yellow and a refresh button allows the user to revert to automatically input data coming from their accounting.
Some tax codes are sums
- These special codes are marked in grey in the tax code mapping view and cannot be edited by the user.
- These codes place the sum of various API codes in specific boxes of the income tax return. The sums which are automatically calculated are presented in the account mapping column. The API code formulas are based on the tax administration’s technical documentation for each form.
