When you make a manual journal entry that involves VAT, you don't have to remember which VAT account, group, and rate apply to each situation. The VAT calculator does the work for you —  enter the gross amount, pick the scenario, and Briox inserts the correct VAT rows directly under the row you're working on, with the right accounts, debit/credit sides, and amounts pre-filled.
Briox also checks the VAT codes are correct and updates the Gross amount to net.

Where to find it

On any manual journal entry, a small calculator icon appears on every editable row. Click the icon on the row you'd like to add VAT rows to.

How to use it

  • Enter the gross amount on the purchase or sales account you want to use.
  • Click the calculator icon on the row.
  • Pick the transaction type — Purchase or Sales — from the dropdown
  • Pick the VAT type that matches the transaction (see Supported VAT types below).
  • Pick the VAT rate.
  • Briox suggests sensible defaults based on the row's account and amount; review them and adjust if needed. Briox also checks the VAT codes are correct and updates the Gross amount to Net.
  • Click OK. The required VAT rows are inserted directly under your source row, with the correct accounts and amounts already filled in.

Include the calculator in the tab/enter sequence

You find the settings under Settings - Company Settings -  Activate functionality - VAT Calculator.
